In a few short months, you will need to prepare your shop for the holiday season.  This means it is time to start buying toys and games.  In this newsletter, I will touch upon some ideas and types of toys that are sure to be the top holiday toys for 2010.

Stimulating Toys For Babies

Look for toys that make noise. Babies are attracted to squeaky plush toys. As you prepare your orders think like a baby.

Purchase bright colors, soft cuddly items and toys that make babies listen and look. Popular items will be mobiles and music CDs that are made especially for babies between the ages of newborn and 12 months.

Developmental Toys For Toddlers

Interactive books will be big this year.  Toddlers (1-3yrs. old) are in the stages of investigation, hand-eye coordination and creativity.  Look for items that use the toddlers' creative side. Art projects and anything interactive, such as books and puzzle toys are great as well.

Discovery Toys For Pre-School Children

This age is all about imagination.  Kids at this age 3-5 love to play with toys.  What that means is they can take a toy dump truck and play pretend with it for hours or play dress-up with costumes.  They also can play simple board games.

Pre-schoolers are also interested in school and learning. This is especially true with children who have an older sibling in school. Reading books, coloring books and interactive books work well as gifts for pre-school children.

Electronic & Interactive Toys For Children Ages 6-9

Electronic toys are going to be high on the list for the 6-9 year-olds. For the girls, pretend play is still an important part of playing.

Toys such as animal figures and dolls are great gifts for 2010. Board games are also good for this age. Look for brain-teasing games. For the boys, remote control cars and interactive toys will be high on their wish list.

Creative Toys For Tweens 10-12

This is the difficult toy age. These kids are not ready to give up playing with toys altogether, but they are looking for more grown-up play.

Look for anything that has to do with fashion, from jewelry to kits that tweens can create fashionable clothing styles on.  For the tween boy, educational electronic games, as well as board games are great purchases.

Interactive Games & Toys For Teens 13-17

Teens are into all sorts of things, from movies to books to music.  Big for 2010 is anything vampire-related (Twilight Series movies) for the girls. Boys will be interested in video games and sports-related games.  Both boys and girls will enjoy board games that they can play with their families, as well as friends.
