Want More Unique Gift Sales – Try Toys

Thursday, November 12th, 2009 - Posted by Leigh Morrisett

Toys Business Still Thrives

According to the Toy Association,  84% of kids still play non-computer games. Does that surprise you? It shouldn’t. Educational toys, board games, puzzles and collectibles are products that appeal to the creative, inquisitive and tactile nature of children.

The driving force behind consumer spending is the search for unique gifts or products that appeal to their basic nature. As the idea of “stay-cation” enters daily life, so does the need for home entertaining. This means more and more families are looking at ways to cut expenses and stick closer to home, yet still entertaining their families and friends. As a retailer, you’ll find that consumers are looking for fun toys and games that are out of the ordinary.

Using Toys To Make Your Store Stand Out

This is where your shop can excel.  By stocking your shop with collectible toys, fun board games, puzzles and educational toys, you can knock the boredom out of standard gift giving. Offering products that add fun and excitement to the weekly family entertainment gives you a unique selling proposition and a reason for consumers to shop with you.

It is easy to find the ordinary games and toys, but consumers are looking for an alternative to everyday box-mart board games or puzzles.  When consumers come into your shop, offer them items that they can’t find elsewhere – creating a uniqueness in your toy selections.

Below is a breakdown of the different toy categories that fall under the idea of unique gifts.  Once you understand how and why people buy these toys, you will be able to create an effective toys product mix for your store. Your toy wholesalers can also help you to choose which items work well in your area.

Educational Toys - Parents want to give children a gift that doesn’t scream “educational” on it, but silently says “play with me and you will learn.” Children today are interested in computer games or interactive toys. Instead of flash cards with math problems, give them a computer program that has cool math games or a dice game that encourages addition.  Adults love to show off their knowledge or expertise. Memory or question games with unique twists give adults the opportunity to show off and have fun with their kids at the same time.

Board Games – Unique board games practically sell themselves. Novelty is a big draw.  People love interaction. Think outside the box, literally.  Offer board games that give consumers the ability to make their own board game pieces. (You can’t get more unique than a board game you create.)

Consumers have many interests.  Board games can revolve around these very interests.  Games such as math games (Suduko) or “green” earth games (where the goal is making the earth eco-friendly) engage players by involving their interests.

Puzzles – This category has many extraordinary items to choose from; tiny puzzles that are only 4” x 6”, collectible puzzles that have specific themes by artist, travel puzzles, as well as 3D puzzles. All these are unique, fun items that you could incorporate into your sales mix. Consumers love a challenge. Puzzles give them a fun way to challenge themselves.

Collectible Toys - Collectible toys can be in either of the above categories or stand on their own.  Die cast cars are big collectibles as well as gifts. Another type of collectible item falls under the category of plush toys.  These toys include stuffed bears or other animals.  Dolls and other action figures have been considered collectibles for years.

Try incorporating one or more of the above unique gift ideas into your product mix.  After all, everyone needs a little entertainment in their lives.

Need help finding the right toys? The FGmarket wholesale toy vendors will be able to offer you a great selection of board games, educational toys, puzzles and collectibles.  To jump start your toy search, check out the FGmarket wholesale toy vendors highlighted below.

Board Game Nuts Must Have LoLo Games

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 - Posted by Brynn Jackson

Board games from big-box retailers are traditional and fun but they lack something that all Generation Y-ers and their children want. Young customers want in board games what they want in every aspect of life–uniqueness.

One thing you know you’ll get from LoLo Company Inc is a unique board game. With titles like “Don’t Make Me Laugh,” “Bucket Blast,” “Stackability,” and “Run Around Fractions,” your customers are bound to take one home and be thrilled with their choice.

How many times have you said “Don’t make me laugh”? If you’re playing LoLo Company Inc’s most treasured board game, you’ll hear it more than you ever dreamed.

Though families can play “Don’t Make Me Laugh” together, there is a junior version and a senior version as well. Take out “Don’t Make Me Laugh” at an informal dinner party and see how many laughs you get in the evening. You’ll be surprised!

Even saying “Bucket Blast” is an exercise in incomparable fun. Try saying “Bucket Blast” ten times fast then play the game for even more laughs. Think about it:  buckets, beanbags and water. Oh yeah. It’s that crazy-fun.

Who wants to do their homework? No one. Who wants to drone over fractions while sitting at a desk? No kid that we’ve ever met. That’s why “Run Around Fractions” is an educational solution. This is one educational toy that kids can have fun with and not even know that they’re learning. There are three indoor games and three outdoor games which encourage children to get up, pump up some energy, and learn fractions. Minus the last part, it’s an irresistible game for …click here to read Board Game Nuts Must Have LoLo Games…

Forget Monopoly. Try These Adult Games

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 - Posted by Brynn Jackson

These are not your average board games and puzzles. While TDC Games Inc. does offer family games and puzzles, adults can find more grown-up entertainment here as well. After the lights go out in Little Johnny’s room, take these adult games out off the shelf and play til dawn.

When it’s gift giving season, don’t be surprised to find consumers roaming your aisles in search of the perfect gift for adults. You won’t find these adult games in Hugh’s grotto but you won’t see them next to Battleship either.

Want to play a round of Dirty Minds? Put away the perverse as players are read clues describing an everyday person or object. The clues may seem a bit adult, but only only the dirtiest minds have trouble. Guess with as few clues as possible and take home the esteem of a winner.

Other adults-only games from TDC Games Inc. include Man Laws & Woman Rules, and Sexy Secrets.

There are also teen and adult board games that aren’t of a certain mindset. These adult games are not adult-only because of the nature of the game, it’s because of the mental challenge required to play. Board games like The Green Game promote fun for Earth Day. Greed is a fun dice game. Bonehead is a laugh-riot “game of really bad ideas”. Make Your OwnOPOLY lets the player create their own board game. Sudoku 2 is a challenging board game inspired by the popular number puzzles. See, it doesn’t always have to be dirty.

TDC Games Inc. also offers puzzles for all ages. Jigsaw puzzles will never go out of style. The trick is finding one without two feet of flower gardens to manage. TDC Games Inc. has taken the fun and doubled it with their fun jigsaw games created to promote environmental friendly attitudes and good family times. There are also mystery jigsaw puzzles. Ever heard of those? You’ll never go back once you’ve tried them.

When your customers walk in and ask if you have any gifts for teenagers, adults or families, point them in the direction of board games and puzzles from TDC Games Inc. They’ll enjoy something new and you’ll be the new go-to place for entertaining gifts.
