Chris Davis was raised on a dairy farm in Southwestern PA and has been a resident of the Blue Ridge

Mountains since 1971. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, business woman, artist, faux finisher,

muralist, decorative painter, art instructor, mentor, coach and lover of life. In 1975 she began

painting professionally under the name of Studio Redwood, Inc. She has owned an art gallery/frame

shop for many years, that is open now, by appointment only. In this gallery she displays and/or sells

her paintings, faux finish samples, painted furniture and accessories, painted clothing, art jewelry, art

puzzles, art totes, and framing samples. “I did not become an artist by accident~the need to create

with color has been there since I was a child. I began painting my interpretation of happenings and

scenery around me during the 1950’s. Our Creator has provided us with such beauty in landscape,

nature, animals, people~why not try to capture this overwhelming beauty with paint, so we may

always remember and carry with us? Living in the Blue Ridge Mountains has had a great impact on

my work. I love to realistically portray rural life in our area. Some of my works also include my

writing~some, a testimony to my great Faith in God.” Chris has work exhibited in private and

Northwest, NC. She is both passionate and enthusiastic about her career, work, and helping others

Having grown up on a farm, and living in the Blue Ridge Mountains have both had great influence on

my artwork. I love to paint character studies of local people, wildlife living here, florals, nature

studies, preserve our old/rural buildings on paper. I love to paint God's amazing creations, as well as

creations built by local folks-whether it be a barn or a hand-thrown piece of pottery. 20% of my

work is totally made up. 80% is from  photos, or combinations of photos I have taken while hiking

or traveling. I work with watercolors, oil pastels, pastels, colored pencil, acrylics, faux finish

products, plasters and found objects. I love the layering process-watching work evolve. Once in

awhile a piece takes on a life of its' own-gifting a wonderful surprise upon completion. My works are

available in the form of fine art paintings, prints, collage, painted furniture, painted accessories,

painted tapestry on canvas, painted murals on canvas for walls, ceilings, floors, and painted clothing
