PA DUTCH CANDIES INTRODUCES TWO DISTINCT PEG BAG CANDY PROGRAMS –
PRIVATE LABEL AND SWEET ADVENTURES™
Camp Hill, PA - Pennsylvania Dutch Candies® introduces a private label peg-bag line as well as SWEET ADVENTURES™, offering nine different theme-based design options. The private label program gives unique customization for the ultimate in retailer branding. The SWEET ADVENTURES™ program allows consumers to relate to the type of retail outlet they are in and enhances the experience they are having. SWEET ADVENTURES™ have nine theme options, one for each of these popular specialty retail segments: zoos, aquariums, museums, cities, farm markets, beach/coastal, mountain, amusement and Americana.
Each line has a choice of 25 top selling candy products to select from and a small minimum order quantity of 12 cases of assorted flavors, packed 12 bags per case. All bags have a suggested retail of $1.99.
“These upscale, header peg-bag lines are designed for retailers of all sizes,” states Richard Warrell, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Pennsylvania Dutch Candies®, a division of The Warrell Corporation, supplies over 1,000 items to tourism and specialty retailers throughout the United States.
The Warrell Corporation had humble beginnings like any other American business, and since its start in 1965 the candy company has grown in its manufacturing success.
Warrell Corporation began as Pennsylvania Dutch Candies in the small town of Mount Holly Springs, PA, as a specialty candy manufacturer and food distributor. PDC was purchased by the Warrell family and remains family-owned. Today, Warrell operates to service the tourist trade and traveling customers through specialty retailers. Since 1965, Warrell has acquired Katharine Beecher Candies and Melster Candies, expanding into the ingredient, mainstream retail, contract, and private label customers.
"We focus on supplying gift shops, restaurants, and independent grocery, drug and hardware stores in tourist areas including airports, travel plazas, zoos, museums, theme parks, caves, and casinos," Annette Jones said.
Warrell Corporation has developed unsurpassed capabilities in candy manufacturing, such as fire roasting and hot panning, artisanal chocolate panning, and chocolate enrobing. The fire roasting technique includes gas fired rotating copper pans that roast nuts to an ideal flavor and color. The chocolate panning system produces chocolate, yogurt, or fruit-flavored coating with a highly polished surface for candies with a fruit, caramel, or nut center. The Warrell facility also includes an enrobing area. Products are passed under a chocolate waterfall for an even coating.
The candy company continually strives to develop new flavors and snack options.
Currently new to the company is the private label hanging bag program. Jones said Pennsylvania Dutch Candies' hanging bags are some of the most popular items, and the revolving 44-peg wooden tree is a hallmark throughout the country. This new private label is for retailers wishing to promote their own line of candies. With 25 best-selling varieties to choose from, cases include 12 bags and are available with a minimum order of 12.
Other new items offered by Warrell Corp. include cotton candy tubs available in original, cookie dough, s'mores, and birthday cake flavors. They also offer individual serve tubs of chocolate and peanut butter fudge, as well as 11 new honey spoon flavors!
The solid facilities, top-quality products, and innovative product ideas developed at Warrell over the past 50 years will help the company serve its customers for the next 50.
Travelers across the country will find no sweeter way to top off their trips than the nostalgic candies and snacks made by Pennsylvania Dutch Candies.
These old-fashioned treats are offered exclusively to specialty retailers primarily in the tourism industry. You can find them in gift shops and boutiques, or retailers at museums, zoos, amusement parks, aquariums, travel plazas, farmer's markets, beaches, and heritage sites.
Pennsylvania Dutch Candies (PDC) is quite selective in who distributes their merchandise and focuses on products that appeal to tourists of all ages. The most popular items - which can be found in the hanging bag line - include sanded candies, rock candy, thin sticks, butter mints, brittle and salt-water taffy.
Established as a family business in Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania, PDC began its transition to a national brand in 1965, and after years of steady growth, moved to a state-of-the-art 200,00-square foot facility located in Camp Hill, Pennslyvania, in 2000.
Most recently, the company expanded its products to offer Private Label and Sweet Adventures handing bag lines. Both are new options for retailers who would like to sell the novelty candies but do not wish to spotlight the PDC brand. The Private Label hanging bag line allows businesses to customize their inventory, while the Sweet Adventures line is available in nine themes: zoos, aquariums, museums, beach/coastal's, farmer's markets, mountains, cities, Americana's and amusement parks. These products require small minimum orders, include single pricing, fast delivery, and ship within 24 to 48 hours.
Along with a wide selection of products and sturdy merchandising displays, PDC offers easy ordering, national distribution, and exceptional customer service via in-house and field representatives, who also travel around the country all year long to promote the novelty candies as well as Better-for-You snacks and bulk candy selection. To visit with them in person, view the displays and sample some of the yummy confections and snacks, check out their trade show schedule on the PDC website.
